Our weekly Pet Meet & Greet is tomorrow from 12:30 - 2:30pm at Urbanimal in Uptown (2106 Lyndale Ave. So). Stop on by and say hello! To check which dogs will be there, please see our website. Under each dog's page it will say if they will be at each weekly event.

Meet Blizzard, a 5-6 month Terrier mix. She is an amazing little ball of love. Blizzard is almost pure white. Like some white dogs, Blizzard is hard of hearing. She could hear as a young pup but as she has grown, her hearing has diminshed. She can still hear somewhat and she responds very well to visual cues. She learns quickly, and is doing really well with potty training. She is totally crate-trained, and knows to go potty when outside. Blizzard would be a really great fit for an active family, as she loves to try new things. She is very quiet in the house, and loves to play with her toys.

She loves to play with other dogs, but is a fairly physical player. If you have seen the new Downtown Dogs commercial airing on the CW-Twin Cities, then you have seen Blizzard in action, as she is the star of the commercial.

Dusty Rose is wonderful, friendly dog looking for her Forever Home! She has been waiting patiently for a long time! Would you like to meet her? Stop by one of our Adoption Event Saturdays at Urbanimal in Uptown (2106 Lyndale Ave. So) in Minneapolis from 12:30-2:30pm.

She is great with other dogs and completely ignores cats. She is very well mannered and loves people. she would be best in a home as a single dog or with a male companion. She is about one year old and 40-45lbs.

Meet Peet!

This is Peet. Peet is a wonderful, quiet little one. He had a tough life as he was recently rescued from a puppy mill. But now he is looking for his forever home! Since he is from a puppy mill he is a bit timid. He is so loving and rides great in the car. Such a laid back little fellow. Please contact us if you'd like to know more about this great guy!

Meet Jasmine!

Jasmine's original owners moved out and left her in an abandoned apartment. She was pregnant, but luckily she was rescued! She is about 1-3 years of age and incredibly sweet and mellow, with amazing clear blue eyes! She would be a terrific only cat or a good companion for a male kitty. A Great Valentine's Adoption Day

Meet Mister!

Mister has had a really hard life before he came to Underdog Rescue. He was severely abused. He and his sister, Tess, were found severely beaten, tied up together, and stuffed into a duffel bag. They were left that way in an alleyway in Minneapolis. An Animal Control Officer found the duffel bag and rescued them.
X-rays showed that this was not the first time horrible things had been done to Mister. His legs had been broken in the past and he will always walk a little differently as a result. Amazingly, all of his abuse did not destroy his sweet temperament. He loves people & is very good with other dogs. Mister is about 7 months old now & will likely weigh about 40 pounds as a adult. Adult Cats Need Homes

Why Adult Cats Need Homes More Than Kittens

A few statistics affecting adult cat placement are:

• 71% of cats that enter animal shelters are euthanized

• "Kitten season" occurs from early spring to late fall, where an average female cat can produce three litters of kittens in this short time. An average liter is 4-6. One mother cat can produce 18 kittens in one kitten season. A female cat can begin having litters as early as 6 months old.

• Animal Control facilities usually euthanize the mother cat as soon as the kittens can be weaned to prevent more litters. Female cats in Animal Control facilities are at the highest risk of immediate euthanasia.

• Kittens are cute and cuddly and easier to place than their larger counterparts-Cats.

Underdog Rescue currently has several adult cats who are in need of homes. Most of our adult female cats were rescued from Animal Control while still pregnant in order to protect them and their unborn from euthanasia. Their kittens have long been placed in new homes, yet they remain waiting. Our cats are all altered, medically and behaviorally tested (including feline leukemia), updated on shots, and totally willing to warm laps and hearts. Please consider them for your family.

McNiff

Meet McNiff! McNiff is a wonderful, quiet guy. He loves everyone and is great with cats. Poor McNiff has been overlooked for a long time because he has a missing leg. But you wouldn't know it! He gets along so well!
We asked Mr. McNiff for a few words for our blog.
He says, "You should come say hi to me! Underdog rescued me as a puppy. I had a really badly hurt leg and they had to amputate it. But I gets along great! And I likes kitties! I'm working super hard on my training! I's doing great! I can't waits to meet you!"
